I am a college student left without a copy of Microsoft Office so naturally I turned to OpenOffice… which is great, at least for word-processing. The OpenOffice Impress software (Microsoft Powerpoint substitute) leaves a little to be desired though (themes) which is why I am very happy I found Google Docs. Google Docs is an online office suite featuring a word processor, presentation creator, and spreadsheet creator. You can create, edit, print, share, save to your computer and view Microsoft, OpenOffice, .html, and .txt files all within your browser. Also, the files are saved online in your Google account meaning you can access them from anywhere. It is a like a virtual file server for your Office documents (did I mention you can also save them to your computer if you’d like)! I’ve already found it very useful and I’ve only been using it for two days. I encourage you to try it out!
